Part of my creative process involves collecting experiences, emotions, feelings and nostalgia for people and places I can later draw from when I create. Sometimes I can do this from home, interacting with my family and friends, watching films, reading books, but I feel truly fortunate when I can go somewhere and immerse myself in a fantasy.
I imagine a dream scenario; I think about the kind of experience I want to have, then I find it. I am careful to choose where I stay, because how my surroundings make me feel is important. I plan activities like antique shopping at flea markets because prop sourcing is a never ending source of joy.
When my journey comes to an end, I return to reality with several suitcases full of antiques, often garden and interior design inspiration, always an appreciation for a new way to eat breakfast – because every culture has their own special way, new friends, but best of all memories that will fuel my creative process for a lifetime.
IMAGE DETAILS: These images are from the time I spent in Provence. I stayed at Mas de Bassette, a little bed and breakfast in the heart of the Luberon region. What I couldn’t have planned was just how lucky I was when I found this beautiful place to stay. Our host, Marie, was herself a true inspiration. Her personal style, the way she decorated her home and her stunning collections enhanced the experience.
